A Feeling Like No Other

I can’t count the number of times I’ve walked up and down a strip mall. I’ve done it too many times to count and honestly have never given it a second thought.

Today’s walk was different. I will never forget it. It has nothing to do with the stores, the weather, or the day and everything to do with a simple gesture.

Usually we carry Charlee or she rides in a cart or stroller. Today was the first day she wanted to walk. But more important than the fact that she wanted to walk is the reality that she actually wanted to hold hands. Our independent little girl that isn’t into cuddling or be trapped up reached for my hand and held it the entire length of the mall. I never wanted the walk to end and will never forget how amazing it was.

I was on one side and Mike was on the other. We could have walked up and down that mall for hours. Who knew such little fingers could hold so much power.
